Ryan Murphy is back with the third installment in his anthology-series, Monster. The series notably follows the lives of different “monstrous figures”. Each season focusing on a different killer. The first season The Jeffrey Dahmer Story caught the audience by storm, quickly followed by the second season, The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story. Now, he dramatizes the life of Ed Gein, the infamous murderer and grave-robber during 1950s rural Wisconsin. Charlie Hunnam’s transformation is unrecognizable (in the best way) as he portrays Gein’s psychological torment, relationship with his mother that shaped his disturbing behavior. The best part of the season is the double feature: not only the life of Gein, but a peek at how Gein’s story inspired numerous horror films, adding a meta layer to the narrative.
