If you didn’t know, The Devil Wears Prada 2 is now in production and everyone is invited to a peek behind the scenes. Anne Hathaway took to Instagram to announce the first look of Andy Sachs, and we all were over the moon.

Following this announcement came a shred of looks from Hathaway alongside returning cast members Meryl Streep and Stanley Tucci. Streep slipping effortlessly back into Miranda Priestly’s razor-sharp persona and Tucci looking oh so nice, not missing a beat 19 years later. All caught by paparazzi on set of the new film with wardrobe choices that absolutely deserve to be gushed over. Even new additions like Simone Ashley & Pauline Chalamet were caught in their own respective looks in line with the 2006 fashion-forward film. Sure, the cast looks absolutely incredible, and we’re stoked for the new film.. But what happened to mystery?

Three cast members from The Devil Wears Prada 2 are seen walking in stylish outfits on set. The left features a woman in a beige coat and sunglasses, the center shows a woman in a black and white striped outfit, and the right displays a man in a grey suit and glasses, all amidst a city backdrop.

Once upon a time movies thrived on mysteries. Cast members wearing robes to and from set to evade paparazzi from sharing spoilers, details for filming was kept under wraps, and studios were lock and key with with plot details. Behind the scenes content was reserved for DVDs or during the press run of the film. It seems Hollywood has exchanged this for a new way of doing things. There’s a fine line between ‘teasing’ and ‘telling all’, and The Devil Wears Prada 2 is a perfect example.

It’s only been in production for a little over a week and we’ve seen 5 looks from Anne Hathaway’s character. Now, there’s a part of me fully convinced that this is a calculated marketing move. These looks aren’t real, and it’s all a ploy to rile us up in anticipation of the sequel. The other part of me believes this is Hollywood’s way of inviting the audience along for the ride – letting us witness the process so that, a year from now, we can sit in theaters with popcorn in hand, watching those early glimpses come to life.

Is it working? For some, these reveals build hype and deepen their love for a franchise. For others, the mystique is gone. Either way.. this cast looks damn good.
