Here’s to my chai spiced latte friends. This loaf is for you! We’re here to debunk any thought of only enjoying chai in drinks or desserts only during the fall. Chai can be enjoyed (and SHOULD be enjoyed) throughout the year! This is the best chai spiced loaf. It’s filled with strong flavors, has a tender crumb, and a sweet cinnamon sugar topping! This bread is so good & moist, we tried it 2 days later–and it tasted as if we just made it. If you’re looking for a new sweet treat that isn’t fruit-based, this chai spiced almond loaf is for you!

making the best LOAF CAKE
We are loaf cakes fanatics! They are so easy to bake, serve, and can be done in less than 2 hours. A tip to the best, clean cut loaf cakes is lining your pans with parchment paper. Because you used parchment paper, this will help you easily pull out your loaf cake without it getting stuck to the sides of the pan. Another important factor is making sure your loaf cake is baking for the correct amount of time. The middle of the loaf is usually the last to bake. After 55-60 minutes, insert a knife into the center of the bread. If it comes out smooth, the cake is done. If the knife comes out with bits of batter on it, leave the cake in the oven for 5-10 more minutes and insert the knife again (in a different spot). Let your cake cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes before removing & slicing. Use a sharp knife to get those bakery-style clean cut slices!
Bring these loaf cakes to parties, take them on picnics, or add it to your lunch for a sneaky dessert! It requires no fork, no smushed icing, and all of the delightful flavors of a traditional cake! Especially this Chai Spiced Almond Loaf!

We like to think that these chai flavors are year-round. Our favorite ways to use chai is in treats like muffins, cakes, cookies, bars, blondies, and donuts. If you don’t have a chai spiced latte just sitting in your fridge or cabinets, you can make your own! Use a tea bag or a pre-made drink (Tazo is our #1 go-to!). Can you blame us for wanting to sprinkle chai goodness in all of our recipes?
Chai Spice Mix: A combination of the best spices in one! ¾ tsp cinnamon, ½ tsp ginger, ¼ tsp nutmeg, ¼ tsp allspice
Chai Spiced Latte: We created a Chai Spiced latte using Tazo’s Chai Spiced Latte drink blended with almond milk. You can use your own chai spiced latte mix, or skip this part of the ingredients.
Butter: Melted butter is the perfect consistency for this chai loaf. It’s much easier to combine with the rest of the ingredients. For a vegan or dairy-free substitute, use coconut oil!
Brown & White Sugar: We used a combo to add depth to our loaf! The white sugar & brown sugar adds a rich & balanced flavor.
Eggs: The base structure of this loaf is eggs! For a non dairy alternative, sub flax eggs, applesauce, or use Bob’s Red Mill Egg Replacer.
Sour Cream: This a richer flavor & great tasting loaf! You can sub full fat greek yogurt or your favorite dairy-free vanilla yogurt.
Almonds: The base flavor & nutty crunch in this recipe. Add almonds into the batter for a crunch in each bite!

Cinnamon Sugar Topping: Instead of the typical glazed topping, we went the cinnamon sugar and almond crunch route! This sweet topping gives you the best tasting.
Let’s get into this amazing Chai Spiced Almond Loaf!
Chai Spiced Almond Loaf
- 1¾ cup all purpose flour
- 1½ tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp baking soda
- Chai Spice Mix ¾ tsp cinnamon, ½ tsp ginger, ¼ tsp nutmeg, ¼ tsp allspice
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ cup butter melted
- ¾ cup white sugar
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- ½ cup sour cream
- ½ cup chai spiced latte
- 1 tsp vanilla
- ½ tsp almond extract
Cinnamon Sugar Topping
- 1 tbsp sugar
- ¼ tsp cinnamon
- sliced almonds
- Preheat the oven to 350°F
- In a large bowl combine the butter, eggs, sour cream, chai spiced latte, vanilla, and almond extract together.
- Add in your sugars & mix until everything is combined.
- Add in the flour, chai spices, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Combine until the flour is dissolved.
- Pour the batter into a loaf cake pan and top it off with sliced almonds.
Cinnamon Sugar Topping
- Mix together sugar and cinnamon. Spread out the topping on the loaf.
- Bake the loaf for 55-60 minutes. Let the loaf cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes before removing and slicing.
